A Modern Revival
A Modern Revival: Turning an Outdated Space into a Timeless Feature
When Sandra approached us about her 1980s-era home, she initially just needed asbestos testing. But after a quick visit, it was clear there was more work needed – the bathroom showed signs of water damage, was packed with asbestos, and the outdated pink and creamy tones made the space feel tired and unloved. What began as a small inspection turned into a full renovation project that we squeezed into our busy schedule – and we’re glad we did.
The priority was safety first: we carried out a full asbestos removal, then stripped the space right back to bare bones. Waterproofing was replaced, as required by code which addressed the water ingress issue, and we modernised the entire room with new fittings, fixtures, and fresh tiling. At Sandra’s request, we also adjusted the window height to better suit the updated design. We installed Marlin Tiles' "Hamptons White Matt" for the flooring and "Charming White Gloss" for the walls, creating a neutral, timeless palette that feels fresh and elegant.
Although the project wasn’t one we initially planned for, the end result made a real difference to the home — and to Sandra, who was a pleasure to work with throughout. Her kind testimonial reinforced why we do what we do. In the end, transforming a once-dated, damaged space into a modern, safe, and beautiful bathroom was not just satisfying, it was a reminder that even the unexpected projects can turn out to be the most rewarding.
