Expanding Possibilities
This young Canadian-Australian family, with primary school-aged children, needed more space to accommodate their growing needs. With the father working from home part-time and a love for outdoor living, they wanted to extend their home while creating a seamless connection to their new pool area.
Their original home was a typical suburban block house—functional but too small, with limited land to expand. The goal was to add a new bedroom for extra space and build a stunning outdoor patio and deck to complement their pool and enhance their lifestyle.
This project was a testament to our commitment to customer service. The client first reached out based on a referral, seeking a builder who could work alongside their pool installation. Although we couldn’t meet their initial timeframe, they chose to wait for us—an incredible show of trust. The design needed to integrate seamlessly with the existing home while navigating council restrictions on boundary proximity. Limited space meant machinery access was tricky, especially with the pool already in place.
One of the biggest challenges was the evolving project scope. The client’s busy schedule delayed decision-making, leading to multiple revisions and price adjustments. At one point, budget constraints forced them to remove the patio from the plan. However, after re-evaluating their finances, they reinstated the full project, and we worked through a final round of re-quoting to bring their vision to life.
The final result maintained the home’s existing colour palette, with carefully matched tiles and Ekodeck decking for the outdoor area. LED downlights created a warm ambience, and the new bedroom provided much-needed additional space.
Our favourite part? Seeing the transformation of their outdoor living space. There’s something special about giving a family a beautiful place to relax, entertain, and create lifelong memories. Hearing how their new deck and pool have changed their lifestyle made this project incredibly rewarding.
