Boundary Road – New Build

An empty sloped block located in the rural outskirts of Westbrook, held the potential to be transformed into the perfect setting for a brand-new home built from the ground up. We visited the owners of the property to discuss a comprehensive process, plan and design personalised specifically to what they were hoping to achieve out of the build. As this renovation was a brand-new home, it meant that we could accommodate and incorporate everything into the design that they were hoping to integrate. This renovation was to accommodate a retired couple who hoped to design a space that would be perfect for not only them, but extended family, grandchildren, and guests to regularly visit.

Once the design was finalised and approved by the council, a commencement date was decided and soon enough, the build was underway! Along the way, the journey was not without its challenges. The sloping block presented logistical hurdles, making deliveries and construction complex at times. But the team persisted, and when the final scaffolding came down, it was a moment of collective awe of the home that now stood in front of us.

Where the empty property once stood, now sits a contemporary home that has been seamlessly integrated into its natural bushland landscape. Careful consideration was given to complement the breathtaking surrounding views, which further dictated the engineering and orientation of the property, internal and external colour scheme, and material selection. James Hardie products, renowned for their durability and fire resistance, were chosen to meet building regulations and enhance the home’s exterior with a refined finish while complementing the home exterior with a sophisticated quality finish. Inside, a cohesive design scheme unifies the spaces while allowing each area to display its own distinct charm. Natural colours and textures, including whites, various shades of grey, a variety of timber finishes, and elegant herringbone tiling continue the seamless integration of the home with its surrounding environment.

But the design went beyond practicality. Stepping through the front entrance, you are immersed in a large, open living and dining room space, with attention drawn to the expansive kitchen displaying an abundance of storage and counter space. Crisp white Laminex cabinetry and overhead cupboards fill the kitchen area. Breaking up the white, natural Caesarstone benchtop and featuring timber shelving and cabinetry throughout, merge well with the natural landscape that surrounds the property. A large outdoor decking that backs off the living and dining space enhances the indoor-outdoor living. Flooded with natural light, the main living area benefits from Velux skylights, which extend toward the hallway leading to the bedroom quarters. The luxurious bedroom is strategically designed to optimise the picturesque scenery, courtesy of a window positioned opposite a wall incorporating an integrated deep grey panelled bedframe, discreetly housing black PowerPoints and light switches for practicality purposes. The ensuite bathroom also flaunts an expansive layout for a relaxing spa-like experience. Despite its open connection to the bedroom, privacy is maintained through a clever layout: a vanity wall positioned in the centre conceals the shower area, accessible from both sides of the vanity section. On the opposite side of the bedroom lies the spacious walk-in wardrobe, smartly fitted with an abundance of timber cabinetry.

Beyond the technicalities, this home represents the core of a dream family residence—a home to connect with loved ones, appreciate nature, and create cherished memories. Completing the renovation just in time for Christmas allowed our clients to enjoy the holiday season in their dream home – a goal made achievable through the exceptional skills of our tradespeople, effective communication throughout the project, and maintaining a strong relationship with our clients every step of the way. By working closely with the homeowners, our team were able to bring their personalised vision to life, ensuring that every detail of their dream was incorporated.
