A Family Home Reimagined: Light, Space and Comfort
This extension and internal reconfiguration was brought to life for a young family of four, with two primary school-aged children and parents who both work from home. Their 20-year-old home, originally built in 2003, was a compact and dimly lit space with a tiny kitchen and a beige, pokey interior that no longer suited their lifestyle. What started as a vision to increase the home from three bedrooms and one bathroom to four bedrooms and two bathrooms quickly evolved into a full transformation, including a new kitchen and flooring throughout.
The work involved a significant extension at the front of the home, creating a spacious new master suite complete with a walk-in robe, ensuite, and a dedicated office. The existing garage was cleverly converted into habitable space by topping up the slab, removing internal walls, and replacing the roller door with a sliding glass door, seamlessly integrating it into the living area. The kitchen was completely reimagined into an open-plan layout, bringing light and flow to the heart of the home.
Despite the family living in the home during the entire renovation, the process remained smooth and collaborative. A white and light palette was used throughout, ensuring timeless appeal and maximising the natural light. Stylish finishes included Nova Monroe luxury vinyl plank flooring, Astra Silver Matt ensuite tiles, and sleek kitchen appliances from Harvey Norman Commercial, with fittings and fixtures by Reece Plumbing.
One of the most memorable aspects of this project was the bond formed with the clients, who were not only lovely to work with but almost never became clients, until a lucky return phone call just in time. Their trust and enthusiasm never wavered, and the result is a stunning, functional, and modern home perfectly tailored to their needs.
